Jim Rondeau works with all ministers and government departments to make Manitoba a better place to live.
Some of Jim's work is reflected in the next several categories:
- Safety In the Home
As Minister of Healthy Living and responsible for seniors Jim was able to highlight the safety issues that face seniors in the home. Many seniors have found the home safety inspection a great way to ensure that all the steps are taken to address their safety needs
- The Senior Assistance for Renters
The SAFR program allows seniors with a low income to receive assistance for rent payments
- Income Splitting
Starting in 2007 couples receiving pensions will be allowed to split eligible pension income for provincial tax purposes. This will result in a further $11 million tax relief annually province wide
- Tax Relief
In 2007 seniors will benefit from personal and property tax reductions as well as special tax relief in the form of a 44% increase in the age credit, a 44% increase in the basic tax credit and a 36% increase in the pension income tax credit
- Healthy Living Exhibition for Seniors
Last year, during Seniors' Month, this conference provided information, activity and fun for seniors. Jim wanted to make sure that seniors would have access to the latest information on their issues
