Being Accessible





Jim Rondeau believes that building community and being accessible is a very important part of his job as an MLA. In order to be accessible he has done the following:
  1. Jim Rondeau assisting Friends Housing with a community Barbeque
  2. Jim cleaning during the Annual Spring Clean
  3. Continued to visit and discuss issues with constituents between elections
  4. Facilitated a community clean up with 165 people involved over 4 days
  5. Organized a Healthy Living Exhibition for seniors with approximately 500 people in attendance
  6. Volunteered annually at the Optimist Buffalo Barbeque and worked to find a new home for it at the Heritage Victoria Community Club
  7. Worked with volunteers to ensure the development of the Winnipeg Rods Football facility
  8. Worked to continue provincial financial support through both Manitoba Justice and Healthy Living for the Lighthouses Program at Hedges Middle School
  9. Organized the annual Literacy Book Sale to assist local schools, daycares and adult literacy programs
  10. Facilitated the Community Volunteer Appreciation Night at Assiniboia Downs for approximately 100 guests every year
  11. Worked at Community Club Breakfast with Santa
  12. Assisted with the relocation of Elderobics, a seniors exercise class, to Heritage Victoria Community Club
  13. Delivered oranges and candy canes to seven daycares each year in cooperation with Canada Safeway
  14. Donated juice drinks at Manitoba In Motion events at a number of schools
  15. Sponsored a sleigh ride at Heritage Park Children's Program daycare and the Heritage Victoria Community Club "Breakfast with Santa" for hundreds of participants each year
  16. Participated in "I Love to Read" events each year. For the last few years the students in the elementary schools designed bookmarks. The best designs were reprinted in the constituency office and handed out to each student
  17. Master of Ceremonies at the Heritage Park Children Program fashion show
  18. Sponsored a sleigh ride and barbecue in cooperation with Unique Corral at their location each year
  19. Supported the St. James Assiniboia Senior Centre events such as the annual walkathons, luncheons, barbeque and calendar project
  20. Sponsored a bus for the annual seniors trip to the Goldeye's game for Seniors Day
  21. Organized a Manitoba Hydro Power Smart Forum and distributed information on this renovation program
  22. Attended annual Remembrance Day ceremonies at Army, Navy, Airforce, Veterans, Unit # 283
  23. In addition, Jim holds community barbeques and ice cream parties throughout the summer and coffee parties throughout the year. In 2006, these activities took place at Hamilton House, 125 Carriage Road, 22 Strauss Drive, 180 Quail Ridge Road, Lions Estates, Friend's Housing and Heritage Victoria Community Club. In the past, the community barbeques included a safety demonstration by the Winnipeg Fire Department
