Healthy Child Manitoba, created by our government, is committed to a community development approach to ensure the well being of Manitoba's children and families. Community partners and government departments work together to help families prosper.
The 26 Parent-Child Coalitions across the province provide supports and education for parents; lifestyle counseling, food preparation and budgeting, literacy and skills training and networking.
The Healthy Baby program offers prenatal financial assistance to low income women. Other community supports are available so that the expectant mother will birth a healthy baby.
Families First offers home visiting to families with children from pregnancy to school entry. The home visitor support helps to build strong family relationships and provides a healthy, happy environment for young children.
Triple P Parenting is a cross department program that provides skills training, education and supports for parents regardless of the age of their children.
New healthy food and nutrition guidelines and an enhanced education curriculum were introduced into Manitoba schools.
"Our government has a vision of a new era where the best interests of our children are at the centre of everything we do as a government and as a province."
